| Where
extensive repair is required on shallow depth walls,
but tie rods are unaffected, it is often cost effective
to drive a small section pile in front of the original
wall, bolt it back to the original waling and fill the
gap between the two walls with tremied concrete.
Consideration will be given
to the use of the wall, but the front wall may not need
to be taken above mid tide, although precautions would
have to be taken to protect shipping if any. In extreme
cases, particularly where the quay would ideally be
upgraded for larger vessels, it may be advisable to
drive a new deeper wall in front, and create a new quay.
