Ground anchors have been successfully installed and stressed at a depth of approximately 9.0m below high water level from within a limpet dam designed and fabricated especially for the purpose .

To give the operatives sufficient room for efficient drilling these dams are of a special ‘pregnant’ shape.

This facility allows low level ground anchors to be installed on quays to:

• Stabilise existing sheet pile quay toes.
• Allow dredge depth to be increased.
  
• Allow increased quay loading.
  
• For new quays, ‘below water level’ anchors can reduce the sheet pile section size required.
• Strengthening temporary coffer dams.
• Accelerated Low Water Corrosion and ship damage strengthening repairs.
